The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to explain how 10/10 Research LLC (“10/10 Research” or “we” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you access or use our site, www.1010research.com, engage with us as a participant in a research study, or otherwise interact with us.

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the “Updated” date of the policy. You should periodically review this policy on our site to stay informed about our information policies and the choices available to you.  

Information Collected

We may collect information from or about you in the course of your interactions with us (“Personal Information”).

Information We Collect When You Use Our Site

When you access or use our site, we receive certain usage data. This includes information about your interaction with the site.  We also collect data about the devices and computers you use to access the site, including IP addresses, location (country), device type, browser type, language, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, and cookie information. Information You Provide Us

We collect information that you provide to us. This includes information that you provide when you participate in any interactive portion of the site, (for example, signing up for our blog or sending a message through the “Contact Us” portion of the site such as  your name, email address and any message you send us. We collect information you provide to us when you apply for a job on our site, sign up as a participant in a research study by signing additional consent form(s) and providing us information either directly or through a third party to participate in research studies, communicate with us via third party social media sites, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us. 

From time to time, we conduct research studies for a client to improve its understanding of how users interact with its prototypes or its live products and devices.  For these research studies, we collect a variety of Personal Information from participants pursuant to separate agreement(s) provided to and signed by each participant in a research study prior to collection of their Personal Information or as disclosed to participants in research studies by a third-party recruiting vendor. We ask participants in research studies for certain Personal Information (like name, age, gender, etc.) in order to tabulate the study data that we collect. In these studies, we observe how participants interact with digital and physical products and devices and interview participants in research studies about their experiences using those products and  devices. We record these observations using recording equipment including video and photo cameras, audio recording software, and screen captures. These recordings may contain the likeness of a participant in a research study.  We also use eye-tracking technology to analyze where a participant in a research study’s eyes are focused and for how long. As part of the screening process for studies that use eye-tracking technology, we ask prospective participants in research studies if they have eye conditions, eye diseases, or whether they have had LASIK surgery.

For studies in which we perform healthcare research, we may also ask participants in research studies for certain protected health information (“PHI”). We do not otherwise actively solicit disclosures of a participant in a research study’s medical history or PHI.

Information from other sources

We may obtain information about you from other sources. For example, we may collect information about you from third parties, including but not limited to third party recruiters who, with your consent, provide us information about you in connection with a research study.

Use of Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the site about products and services we may offer;

Communicate with you about products, services, and events offered by 10/10 Research, and provide information we think will be of interest to you. (You can opt out of these communications at any time by contacting us at Privacy@1010research.com or using the Unsubscribe link within the email.)

Respond to your requests for information, comments, questions, and customer service requests and send you any administrative notices or updates;

In the case of participants in research studies, we use the study information that you provide to us to produce research findings and recommendations. Information regarding eye conditions, eye diseases, and LASIK surgery is used solely to screen out potential participants in research studies in studies that use eye-tracking technology. For studies in which we perform healthcare research, any PHI related to a participant in a research study that we solicit or that is incidentally disclosed to us is used solely for purposes of the research in those studies;

Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our site;

Personalize your online experience and the advertisements you see when you use the site or third-party platforms based on your preferences, interests, and browsing and purchasing behavior, and audit your interactions with our online ads, including by counting ad impressions and verifying positioning and quality of ad impressions;

Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and protect the rights and property of 10/10 Research;

Debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;

Comply with laws, regulations, and legal processes; and

In connection with research and development activities.

Information Sharing

We may share your Personal Information with the following types  of recipients:

With vendors, service providers, and consultants as needed to provide our services and operate our business, who process it for us, based on our instructions, and in compliance with this policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures;

With public authorities to meet law enforcement requests and other parties in response to a lawful request in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law or legal process;

If we believe your actions are inconsistent with our Terms of Use or policies, if we believe you have violated the law, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of 10/10 Research;

With other parties in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company;

Between and among 10/10 Research and our current and future parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and other companies under common control and ownership;

In the case of participants in research studies, with your consent, we will share your Personal Information with our client sponsoring the study. Neither we nor our client will publicly display or distribute study information including recordings or likenesses without a participant in a research study’s written consent, except in limited circumstances as described above. Information regarding eye conditions, eye diseases, LASIK surgery or any PHI incidentally disclosed to us and unrelated to the subject of a study is not used or disclosed to anyone outside of 10/10 Research or our client except in limited circumstances as described above; and

With any other party with your consent and/or at your direction.

We may disclose aggregated and anonymized information, which is information that is incapable of identifying an individual is not considered Personal Information under this Privacy Policy, without restriction.

Your Control Over Your Personal Information

You may request access to,  change, or delete your personal information by contacting us using one of the methods listed at the end of this section. Once we verify your request, we will delete your data. We may preserve data for legal reasons or to prevent harm, including as described in the Use of Information section. Note that if you are a participant in a research study involved in healthcare studies, our researchers and our client may still use or disclose health information they already have obtained about you as necessary to maintain the integrity or reliability of the research, in accordance with applicable law.

You may opt out from receiving promotional emails from 10/10 Research by following the instructions in those emails to unsubscribe  or by contacting us at Privacy@1010research.com. If you opt out, we may still send you emails about ongoing business relations, but will no longer send non-promotional emails.

If you live in certain jurisdictions, you have a number of legal rights with respect to your information, which you may exercise, as outlined below. Data Retention Period

We keep your personal information, like your name and email address, for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as needed to serve you. If you are a participant in a research study, we will keep information you shared with us as long as necessary to complete and provide the study to our client and as may be further outlined in any agreement(s) you signed with us. If you decide to delete your data, we will retain and use your information to comply with our legal obligations (for example, to retain proof of consent or for other compliance purposes), resolve disputes, enforce our agreements or as otherwise described in this policy or any agreement you signed, if applicable.

Information Security

10/10 Research takes reasonable steps to protect your Personal Information, however, no method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure. If you have a security-related concern, please contact us at Privacy@1010research.com.
